Spiritual Vitality:
In John 15 Jesus said that apart from Him we can do nothing. Without a sure and solid foundation in Jesus we have nothing to give. Scripture and prayer are essential in preparing for and in doing ministry, not just later on in a cross-cultural ministry setting, but it must start right now.
Managing Expectations:
If misplaced expectations are the number one reason missionaries leave the field, how can one set accurate expectations? This session will help address major issues to consider in preparing for missions. Becoming a lifelong learner, determining what success looks like and expecting to be flexible are just a few.
Developing Cross-Cultural Relationships:
Developing cross-cultural relationships is vital to a missionary's ability to thrive and minister effectively in a new host culture. A biblical understanding of cross-cultural living will help inform and guide our personal journeys as we serve in cross-cultural settings.
Dealing with the Tough Stuff:
This intensive session will explore the biblical perspective of personal suffering and the suffering of those we serve. It will look at the challenge of trusting in a loving and sovereign God amidst suffering. Stories will shed light on the “Why?” question, how to prepare for the tough stuff, how to help others, and how to survive through tough times.
Friendships & Support:
Missionaries need friends in order to thrive. This session will focus on understanding the value of friendships and support in building resilience. A variety of relationships are essential for a healthy missionary and require intentionality.
