Focus on POCUS (Point of Care Ultrasound) in Medical Missions

A heightened wave of interest in POCUS is rapidly engulfing Point of Care as a standard of care Worldwide. This is especially true in Medical Missions and other under resourced settings. Basic POCUS is being introduced earlier and earlier in Medical School as ultrasound applications proliferate throughout almost every medical specialty. (NO escape). During this 2 hour breakout session EXPANDED POCUS as applied in under resourced settings will be emphasized. Many times barely adequate x-ray access is lacking let alone CT and MRI. This creates a difficult conundrum in to which EXPANDED POCUS can be of great diagnostic value. While this challenge can contribute to compassion fatigue, EXPANDED POCUS can help alleviate it. It can make a dramatic improvement in the time to accurate diagnosis and starting definitive treatment. Hopefully this decreases the number of number of sleepless wondering "what if"
Short presentations will be made in two categories. Cardiac, Lung, DVTs, and Abdomen including Soft Tissue and Musculoskeletal (MSK). Hands on scanning sessions of 1 hour each for the 2 categories will be conducted. Preregistration of attendees will be required and a maximum number
established depending on the space available. Sufficient instructor numbers and ultrasound systems will be supplied to match attendee numbers. COST $5
