This session is designed for those who have no or minimal POCUS experience.
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is the use of ultrasound by the bedside clinician to aid in diagnosing and managing conditions in their patients. Particularly in the mission field and in limited-resourced settings, this portable technology can greatly enhance diagnostic certainty as other diagnostic modalities may not be available. This 2-hour break-out session is aimed at participants with very limited or no medical knowledge and ultrasound experience. We will introduce the basics of ultrasound techniques and provide hands-on experience visualizing internal organs in the chest and abdomen.
