Residency Program

As the largest not-for-profit health care system in Texas and one of the largest in the United States, Baylor Scott & White Health includes 48 hospitals, more than 900 patient care sites, more than 6,000 active physicians, more than 40,000 employees and the Scott & White Health Plan. The visual representation of our System Strategy is called Our Core. With our new model of care, we treat patients when they’re sick, but we also work hard to keep them healthy.

Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Waxahachie is affiliated with Baylor University Medical Center Dallas who has taught the next generation of doctors since 1904. With 11 residency programs and 34 fellowship programs in Dallas, it is one of the largest GME programs in the nation.

The mission of Baylor University Medical Center - Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Waxahachie Family Medicine Residency Program, founded as a Christian ministry of healing, is to show God’s love for the community by providing quality, compassionate care and excellent training for our residents following Christ’s example of healing and teaching. Our goal is to facilitate and transform new medical doctors into skillful family medicine physicians who provide compassionate care for patients, families and the community while retaining the joy in medicine. Training at Baylor University Medical Center - Baylor Scott and White Medical Center Waxahachie encompasses experience in diverse patient populations and health care settings. 

The program is a partnership with Hope Health Clinic in Waxahachie that provides medical care and services for all ages including behavioral health, prenatal and postpartum care, and dental; Baylor Scott and White McLane Children's Hospital in Temple that has 112 pediatric beds and a 48-bed NICU and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie which has 134 beds with a Level IV trauma center, Level II special care unit, Level III maternal care center outpatient cancer center, and a heart hospital. The hospital delivers nearly 1200 newborns annually. The residents will rotate through all three of the three facilities.
