At Cahaba, our purpose is to love God and show his glory by walking in the footsteps of Jesus and ministering in the love of Christ. Cahaba is an independent, physician-led, federally qualified health center and is the sponsoring institution of the Cahaba-UAB Family Medicine Residency, an unopposed, community-based Family Medicine Residency and Teaching Health Center.

In one of the most unique collaborations in the U.S., Cahaba has partnered with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine - one of the top medical schools and health systems in the country - to form an academic partnership that furthers UAB’s commitment to family medicine in Alabama, while maintaining a community-based training environment.

PROGRAM VIDEOS

Full Scope Training with unopposed hospital services.
- Outpatient Procedures - injections, biopsies, excisions, toenails, PFTs, etc.
- Inpatient Procedures - central lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, LP, etc.
- Women’s Health - Vaginal delivery, colpo, EMB, IUD, contraceptive implants, etc. Advanced track including Cesarean & LEEP.
- Point of Care Ultrasound - OB, MSK, DVT, RUSH, injections, etc.
- Endoscopy, including an advanced track.
- Exercise Stress Testing, prolonged ECG monitoring, echocardiography
- In-office Digital Radiography
- Casting & Splinting
- HIV, Hepatitis C, & Buprenorphine Care
20-20-20 Program: 7 per year in Urban, 5 per year in Rural, 4 per year in Frontier, and 4 per year in Highlands.
Underserved Medicine - We envision and work toward our underserved and neglected communities being made whole and healthy.
Relocation - We choose to relocate into our patients’ neighborhoods to love our community not only as a doctor but as a friend and a neighbor.
Community - Our lives are interwoven as we live, work, and cultivate our community’s spiritual and social health together. Sharing meals, playing sports in the neighborhood, and praying together are regular parts of our community’s rhythm.
International Trips - 4 week international trip EACH YEAR of residency with emphasis on medical and spiritual growth.
Vision Casting - mentor visiting medical students from across the country as they visit seeking to develop a vision for ministering in the love of Jesus.
