Global Vision 2020’s (GV2020) mission is to help end the global epidemic of Uncorrected Refractive Error (URE – or, simply, “blurry vision”) for the 2.5 billion people living without access to basic vision care. We aim to do this primarily by identifying and working with suitable partner organizations – including NGOs and governments – already providing services at the Base of the Pyramid.

We train and equip partners to do basic vision screening using our unique, low-cost, clinically validated self-refraction tool, the USee™. The USee™ is the core component of the GV2020 Vision Kit™ (“the Kit”) that combines its simple, color-coded prescription indicator with snap-in lenses and glasses frames. The Kit includes everything needed to dispense ISO-certified eyeglasses after a half day of training.

Distributing prescription near and distance eyeglasses to the Base of the Pyramid will have a direct positive impact on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, Good Health and Well Being. It can also impact several additional Sustainable Development Goals.
