Are you a midwife or do you know a midwife who works at the "edges" - in places where maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity are the highest and where there are Unreached People Groups?
Are you part of a midwifery school or a midwife who mentors or precepts other midwives with a heart for pioneering missions?
Are you otherwise involved with mobilizing midwives to the edges?
Have you caught the vision that midwives are key to the shalom health of people living at the edges?
Then join us in Midwives @ the Edges (M@tE) -- a global network of frontline midwifery workers, organizations, and like-minded individuals who collaborate to support, teach, and encourage each other, build the evidence base and share best practices, and recruit and train up others in the art and science of midwifery. It will take the entire village -- midwives and alongsiders -- for M@tE to fulfill the mission of supporting midwives who are already at the edges and helping close the gap of a shortage of 900,000 trained midwives.
For midwives living and working at the edges, this network can be your lifeline: a safe place to debrief or ask for help; a place to celebrate successes and grieve and process difficulties; a place to gather to fulfill continuing education requirements and learn from each other. Midwives working at the edges are key to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals 3.1 and 3.2 and Midwives @ the Edges will sustain them - physically and spiritually so that they in turn are able to provide care that brings shalom -- perfect peace and well-being.
