Mission to Myanmar was born after Pastor Mark Robinette visited Myanmar for the first time in 2012 and discovered an amazing, fruitful Christian network in an almost entirely Buddhist country.

Myanmar—formerly known as Burma, located in Southeast Asia between Thailand and India—had been virtually closed to the outside world for decades, much like North Korea or Afghanistan. The door to Myanmar closed again in February of 2021 after a military coup, but not before deep and lasting connections were formed between the church in Myanmar and the church in the United States.

A group of very persecuted Christians—sixteen churches spread across the country—were faithfully running a Bible school, two orphanages, and active evangelistic and humanitarian outreach programs. The Mission to Myanmar team saw how much this beleaguered group of believers was able to do with almost no resources and knew that with support, they could do even more.

Since 2012, Mission to Myanmar has helped build several churches, a three-story ministry center in Yangon, and a large Ministry Complex just 30 minutes away on the outskirts of the city. This new building is over 7,000 square feet and has become a safe haven where dozens of children and many families are now reaping the benefits—living in security with access to clean water from wells, shared kitchens, vegetable gardens, classrooms, and housing. We’ve also helped construct two permanent orphanage dormitories and equipped our local teams with motorcycles and a four-wheel-drive truck to reach remote communities.

Our mission has also included disaster relief, medical aid, and humanitarian work. We’ve brought mobile medical teams to the front lines after floods and storms. We just recently returned from a major disaster relief mission, where we helped feed thousands and brought emergency medical care to those in desperate need.

In January of 2021, we helped publish the first-ever New Testament in the Kaang Chin language and have committed to supporting the translation and publication of the Old Testament as well—continuing our commitment to Bible translation and equipping the church in Myanmar with Scripture in their heart language.

In January 2024, we experienced an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss. Our beloved founder and leader, Pastor Mark Robinette, perished alongside two of his sons while heroically trying to save their lives in a tragic house fire. His courage in his final moments reflected the very heart of the man we knew—a shepherd, a father, and a servant-leader devoted to others above himself.

Though the loss was devastating, his legacy did not end there. Mark’s daughter, Rebekah, stepped forward in faith to continue the mission her father poured his life into. Backed by the entire Robinette family and our faithful partners, she has carried the torch with grace, strength, and deep conviction. The work continues—fueled by the same love for the people of Myanmar and the same unwavering trust in God that Mark instilled in all of us.

Even with challenges and restrictions, we continue to press forward—expanding our reach, deepening our relationships, and meeting needs in Myanmar.
